We always welcome new starters to John F Kennedy Primary School, regardless of where the pupils are in their stage of education.

Applications for a place in reception classes 2024 at John F Kennedy Primary School can be made between 2nd October 2023 and 14th January 2024.

Nursery

Nursery places within the school are allocated in accordance with our admission criteria. Please note that admission to our nursery does not guarantee your child will be admitted to the reception class for their primary education.

We offer places for both 15-hour and 30-hour children from the age of three. Parents can register their interest for a nursery place with the school by completing an application form when their child is two years old.

To register your child for a nursery place, please visit the school office (please bring a copy of your child’s Birth Certificate).

Reception

Reception places within the school are allocated in accordance with our admission criteria.

Sunderland Local Authority administer the admissions process on behalf of the school.

To apply for a school place for your child, please visit the Local Authority Admissions Service using the button below.

When you apply for a place online, you will receive an email confirmation to confirm receipt of your application.  If you do not have internet access, you can visit any of the Local Authorities Customer Service points or alternatively, you can request a paper application by calling 0191 520 5553.

Transfer To Our School

From time to time, parents may wish to transfer their child to John F Kennedy from another school. To arrange a visit to our school, please contact the school office directly.

To apply for a transfer, you must collect a Transfer Form from your child’s current school. The completed form should be handed in to your child’s current school office who will then forward the relevant paperwork to Sunderland City Council’s Admissions Service to process.

Treehouse

The purpose of our Treehouse provision is to meet the needs of pupils with the triad of difficulties with communication, social understanding and the rigidity of thought resultant of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This provision is for a maximum of 24 pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
