George Washington Primary School, a large, friendly primary school in Washington, is one of the top performing primary schools in Sunderland local authority and is committed to ensuring everyone achieves their full potential. At Springwell Village Primary School the vision is to create a safe and inclusive school community where children are happy, successful and the best that they can be. School & Family Events
We always try and involve the wider community whenever possible in school, as we aim to be a central part of the area. So far this year, we have had the chance for family to support their children in craft afternoons, by joining in with our festive Christmas fayre, celebrating the Christmas story through various productions by the children. They have also been invited to see the history homework project display in the school hall, look at the entries for the pumpkin competition and join the children on any school trips.
Treehouse
They had three wonderful Autumn themed craft afternoons this week in The Treehouse. The children used the leaves and conkers they had collected to make some great pieces of artwork. It was lovely to have so many parents come along to join in with the fun.
MacMillan Coffee Morning
Despite the downpour, we were delighted to see so many people in our school hall for the annual MacMillan Coffee Morning. We want to say a massive thank you for anyone who attended or donated a delicious, sweet treat to support such an incredible charity and important cause. All donations received go towards Macmillan services and the money we have raised will help everyone with cancer to live life as fully as they can.
Year 2
Year 2 have had a brilliant afternoon celebrating Bonfire Night with parents and carers. Thank you to everyone who came along.
Topic Homework
Once a term, we encourage members of the family to work with the children as they complete a piece of topic homework. In the Autumn term, this was based around the history curriculum being taught in school. We created a display of all the homework submitted, and we opened the doors to invite pupils to share their work with their family in a display in the school hall. Well done to everyone who submitted their work. It was equally lovely to showcase everyone's hard work through our Project Showcase display.
