1st Round of Columbia Cup
On Thursday we played St Joseph’s and George Washington schools. To start off we played St Josephs and went one goal down. But then we got a penalty and we scored, we fought right until the final whistle blew. Morgan Waggott scored the penalty.
Then we played George Washington and it turned out whoever won went through to the next round. We had lots of chances to score, then Charlie Clark pulled the trigger and belted it into the top corner, what a goal! The final whistle blew and JFK went home with our heads held high. We had qualified for the next round of the cup.
By Morgan Waggott and Charlie Clark. Well
Columbia Cup Semi-Finals
A brilliant display against Blackfell ended in a 2-2 draw. The boys deserved more from the game but they proved to be tough opponents. In the second game Blackfell and St. Bedes drew 1-1. We knew going into our final game against St. Bedes that a win would guarantee us a spot in the final. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be as St. Bedes won 1-0. It was a very tough game against a really good team and we just couldn’t quite find the performance. Good luck to St. Bedes in the final.
Last game of the season
JFK 0 v Our Lady Queen of Peace 1
This was our last game of the season. The boys, as always, played very well and fought until the end. But one goal was enough to seal our fate. Overall it’s been a really good season for the team, we would like to say a big thank you for your commitment and always giving 100%. Also thank you for the ‘Parent taxis’ ferrying children to and from the matches and showing great support and encouragement. Lastly a big thank you to Mr Young who has taken the boys under his wing this season and given the team his full commitment and knowledge during training and matches, helping them grow in confidence and belief in every game.
