5-aside football - Thursday 24 January 2019

Last night, at Barnwell Academy, our football team played in the group stages of the WPSFA five-a-side tournament. We opened with a hard-fought draw against OLQP after opening the scoring through Adam Rogers.

In our second game, we managed to narrowly beat George Washington 1-nil through a penalty scored by Owen Watts. We played the final game of the night, against Biddick, knowing that we had to win but also overturn a 2-goal deficit on OLQP. We went one down through a conceded penalty but got right back in the game through a good goal by Adam Rogers and Owen Watts, near the end, managed to put one through the keeper’s legs.

Unfortunately, despite finishing on 7 points, we did not qualify due to goal difference. The boys played excellently though and should be proud of their efforts.

We have a few weeks off now before the league season recommences after the half term.
