Latest JFK News

John F Kennedy is a successful two form entry primary school and nursery situated in the heart of Washington, close to local amenities and important heritage landmarks including Washington Old Hall.

JFK is a caring school led by a team of staff who are committed to the welfare of the children in our care and to developing success in every aspect of their life and learning.

Our aim is to ensure all children achieve their full potential. Over the last 3 years in KS1, children have improved their overall attainment in reading, writing and maths. Similarly in KS2, children have exceeded all government floor standards over the same period. In 2014 over 40% of Year 6 children made better than expected progress from KS1.

We hold Artsmark Gold which reflects the quality of our curriculum and our dedication to art and music. Here at JFK every child has the opportunity to learn a musical instrument as part of our curriculum in school. Our close partnership with Biddick Sports Academy enables our pupils to participate in a wide range of sporting activities. We are very proud to be one of seventy schools nationwide to hold the Gold Kitemark for Commitment to School Sport and Competition.

Currently we also hold the Healthy Schools Anti-Bullying Award, Basic Skills Quality Mark and the International Schools Award. As an Achievement for All school, we are determined to improve outcomes for our children from vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds. We value our partnerships with parents, carers and the wider community and look forward to working together to realise the vision for our school.
